Why HealthLog.si

Why not just use what you already have?

Most people already keep pieces of their health information in five or six places. Each piece is incomplete on its own, and incomplete is where the risk is. Here is what each one does well, where it stops, and what HealthLog.si adds.

“Partly” means it does some of this, with limits explained below.

One at a time

Apple Health

Good at: collecting data from your iPhone and Apple Watch, pulling records from participating health systems, and Medical ID.

Where it stops: Apple devices only. Sharing is limited to other iPhone users and participating providers. It does not handle medical bills.

HealthLog.si adds: the same record on any phone, shared by consent with anyone on your care team. It imports your Apple Health data, so you keep both.

Android health apps

Good at: fitness and device data. Samsung Health also gathers records from many US health systems, and Health Connect lets Android apps share data.

Where it stops: tied to the phone maker. Little support for sharing by role, for medical bills, or for someone who has no phone.

HealthLog.si adds: one record that survives a change of phone, with family, caregivers and providers each given the access you choose.

Patient portals

Good at: being the source of truth for that provider: results, messages, appointments and bill pay.

Where it stops: one portal per health system. A shared login such as MyChart Central only reaches providers on the same EHR vendor. Proxy access is set up provider by provider, and the provider controls the record.

HealthLog.si adds: every portal's data in one record you own. Keep using the portal to message your doctor and book visits.

Your insurance company

Good at: claims history, coverage, deductibles and explanations of benefits.

Where it stops: claims are billing codes, not clinical results. The record starts over when you change job or plan. The insurer pays the bills, so it is not a neutral reviewer of them.

HealthLog.si adds: your clinical record and your bills side by side, with Bill Shield checking every charge on your behalf.

AI chatbots

Good at: explaining a result or a medical term in plain language at any hour. Some, such as ChatGPT Health, now connect to medical records and Apple Health.

Where it stops: it is a conversation, not a record. No consent management, no roles for family or caregivers, no emergency access. Consumer AI apps generally sit outside HIPAA.

HealthLog.si adds: AI that works inside a structured record, cites the entry each answer came from, and operates under your consent and an audit trail.

Pharmacy apps

Good at: refills, reminders and interaction checks for the prescriptions filled there.

Where it stops: it only knows that pharmacy's prescriptions, and nothing about your lab results, diagnoses or visits.

HealthLog.si adds: one medication list across every pharmacy and prescriber, checked against your whole record.

Paper, photos and spreadsheets

Good at: being entirely yours. No account, no app, and it works anywhere.

Where it stops: not searchable, not with you in an emergency, easy to lose in a move, and nobody else can update it.

HealthLog.si adds: Paper Scan turns the folder into structured data you can search and share. You keep the originals.

HealthLog.si does not replace your doctor's chart or your insurer's claims. It brings them together in a record that belongs to you. Doctors and plans will change over your lifetime; your log stays. Product names are trademarks of their owners. Comparison is based on publicly available information as of October 2026 and may change.
